For any questions, contact Sean Londrigan at 217-503-3534, Pensacola Chapter 485 Young Eagles Coordinator.

EAA Young Eagles is a program designed to inspire and introduce our future aviators to an experience in general aviation aircraft. Launched in 1992 over 2.4 million youth have been able to participate in the program. This program is open to any child between the ages 8-17.

Here is a 5-minute video from EAA summing up the program:

Chapter 485 is doing our part to ensure that our community’s youth is afforded this opportunity. To date we have flown 3000 future aviators. At our most recent June 14th, 2025 event we flew 26 Young Eagles. To see slideshows of past Young Eagle Rallies, click on the tab on the left.

The Young Eagles Mission- The mission of the National EAA Aviation Foundation's Young Eagle's Program is to provide a motivational aviation experience to youths wishing to participate, focusing on a demonstration flight

This is what it's all about!

The Young Eagles Goal - The initial goal was to fly one million youth by 2003, the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers’ first flight. As of June 16, 2025 the international EAA Young Eagles Program has flown 2,432,573 Young Eagles!!

What Will My Flight be Like? - You will see the earth and sky in a new and exciting way. You will experience the wonderful freedom of flight that many people only dream about. Like an eagle, you will soar among the clouds and understand the many possibilities that flight - and life in general - have to offer. Many people remember this experience for the rest of their lives. You will, too! After your flight, you will receive a certificate of completion and your name will be placed in the world's largest logbook.

Who Pays?
 - The Young Eagles Program is all volunteer, and all Young Eagles flights are provided free of charge! National EAA provides the local chapters with all paperwork necessary to carry out a rally. Funding for these materials comes from dues paid by all EAA members. Each pilot pays for 100% of his or her operating costs. Thanks go to all the pilots and volunteers that make this program an enormous success.

How Safe is Flying? - Flying in an airplane is safer than many other forms of recreation. Each Eagle Flight takes place in an FAA registered airplane by a licensed pilot. The flight is conducted according to federal regulations. No aerobatic or non-standard flown maneuvers will be performed. In addition, our local pilots must participate in a preflight safety briefing prior to each rally.

A Few Rules
 - Eagle Flight candidates wishing to participate must be between the ages of 8 and 17 and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. You must remain at the airport with your Young Eagle! For each rally, a parent or legal guardian must sign an electronic waiver (done at the rally) for their child to fly. It is very important to ensure your registration for the rally on. the YEDay.org website is correct and complete prior to arriving at the rally!

Millions of people fly safely in airplanes every year. However, an airport is not a playground. Listen and follow instructions given by the ground crew and pilots. Listen carefully for instructions on entering and exiting the airplane, do not touch any part of an airplane without the pilots permission and stay away from the propellers.

Come on out to have fun!- Remember, the EAA National Young Eagles Program is all volunteer! Both pilots and ground crew are donating all their time and efforts to make this program a success. We do this because we really love airplanes and flying, and we want to share this adventure with the youth of the Tri-State area.

So where do I learn more? - We suggest you spend some time at the EAA's Young Eagles website. There you will find information on the Young Eagles Program, theory of flight, The World's Largest Logbook, and much, much more.
